About Zarabanda

Formed in 2003, by guitarist/composer, Gary Santucci, Zarabanda has quickly made a name for itself in the Hamilton area as a high-energy original acoustic music ensemble. With influences ranging from Indian music to Mediterranean to flamenco to jazz to rock and everything in between, the band has an appreciative and loyal fan base that continues to grow. The instrumentation is as eclectic as the band’s style. The resulting sound is raw, and full of a primal energy; yet, there is a level of refinement and sophistication that is inexplicable. If one feels that he/she just wants something to listen to, the music will allow itself to be experienced in that way. However, if one wants to explore deeper, he/she will find that this original music weaves tales of far-away places - beckoning us with hypnotic melodies. This band’s arrangements add an urgency - an understanding that you are being spoken to and must respond. Zarabanda is about the essence of life.
